The term ‘career’ was first recorded in the late 16^th century. It was popularised throughout the 1800’s. It means something very different today.

In the last 30 years we have lived through the advent of the digital age, the dot-com boom, the gig economy, and the age of the remote worker.

Despite those changes, our desire to dedicate our lives to a profession has not diminished. Our appetite for opportunities, progression, and success lives strong.

To create a fulfilling career today it’s important to acknowledge the challenges we face. Apathy, distraction, and overstimulation are the biggest obstacles. They can derail the even the most talented professionals.

I serve a select group of men and women who are determined to create a prosperous and fulfilling career, doing what they love.

Why is it so difficult to create a rewarding career today?

You’ve probably heard it since you were a child from parents, grandparents and other wise figures in your life…. “pick a career that makes you happy.”

It’s well-intentioned advice. And it’s not wrong. The challenge you have is that employment today is very different to what your grandparents and parents experienced. Few employers have career paths that could fulfill your ambition for a decade, certainly not for 40-50 years.

Recruiters choose to pigeon-hole your capabilities into the ‘thing’ you did last. Their goal is to help you to find a ‘job’, not to create a fulfilling career.

And there are many extremely talented people who drift from job to job. They are in search of the spark that will bring joy and fulfillment to their career.

Most job seekers today are 100% bought into a system that does very little to serve them. You see a job opening, you apply, you get interviewed, and you dance to the tune of the employer.

It’s no surprise that when you accept such a job, it does very little to fulfill your inherent potential. Throughout the entire process, you gave little thought to your drams and ambitions.

What if you approached your job search differently? Instead of responding to a job posting that was likely written by AI, you created your own position that you are inspired to fulfill.
